  • For the first 19 years of my life, I spent Thanksgiving at my Grandparents’ table. On my 20th Thanksgiving, my roommate decided last minute to go to her boyfriend's house, so my Thanksgiving feast consisted of a store-bought mini-ham and Mac n’ cheese. I try to make Mac n’ cheese every year to remember that day of being thankful, but also being alone. The next year I ended up surrounded by friends, and the year after that hubs and I were married and we spent our first Thanksgiving at a military mess hall in Kansas.
    Over the years we’ve spent it at other military bases, with friends, with family. I even had my grandmother in my house for her last Thanksgiving. Some of my favorite memories were made around her table and the tables of friends. My oldest son, who is 18 was always with us. This year he is absent because the plane ticket home from college was absolutely ridiculous. He is blessed to have his Grandparents within a few hours drive of his University, so my parents were gracious enough to pick him up and give him a loving holiday. But I won’t lie - it’s a major part of our family missing.

    This is my “famous cranberry sauce”. It’s one of my most popular posts. And thanks to all of you, the views it gets over the holiday season will help pay for that University experience. College is expensive y’all. But it a time of gratitude, I can’t help thinking how truly blessed I am to have the blog and the opportunities that come with it. Although my last brain surgery was successful, I could never hold down a regular job. My body is just too fickle. But it’s only thanks to you, that all of that is possible. Every time you visit the blog, pin a recipe, share a video, you make a difference in our life. I am forever grateful for all of you.

  • back at home for thanksgiving!! mannn it feels good to be back in the kitchen again😌 started the morning off with this spread:
    - @kodiakcakes pumpkin flax pancakes topped w maple syrup and whipped cream🥞
    - the return of #thedailyscramble !! with some WHOLE EGGS (oh boy i’ve missed whole eggs SO MUCH bc i rarely get to eat them in college😩 i’ve been craving them like crazy lol) and lite mozzarella cheese mixed in!

    with the holidays coming up, i also just wanted to ~express~ my thoughts on food insecurity real quick. a year ago, i would’ve NEVER put whipped cream on my pancakes, or god forbid put cheese on my eggs. i labeled these foods as “bad” and “unhealthy”, barring myself from eating them. sure, treats like whipped cream may not be the most nutrient dense, but i’ve come to learn that not everything i eat needs to be “healthy” in order for me to lead a healthy lifestyle. the most important thing is if i’m craving it and am in the mood for it, i’ll have some. i gotta remind my self that sometimes, life’s to short not to enjoy some whipped cream on my pancakes or some cheese on my eggs. just something for me to keep in mind, especially w allll the good foods about to come on thanksgiving🤩

    Открою небольшой секрет : вы можете потолстеть даже от куриной грудки с гречей, если будете переедать в течение дня свою норму калорий!

    Нет надобности исключать какую-либо группу продуктов из своего рациона, если у вас на неё нет аллергической реакции и, тем более, если вам нравится вкус.

    И мы сейчас не говорим о различных соусах, простых углеводах (десертах) и трансжирах, которые каждый знает, что нужно максимально исключить, а именно о нормальных цельных продуктах, которые богаты нутриентами и витаминами.

    Как вы выглядите и как вы себя чувствуете зависит от того, какое топливо (еду) вы используете. Поэтому каждый сам решает, хочет ли он быть энергоспособным в течение дня либо засыпать на ходу и чувствовать тяжесть. Не нужно выдумывать новые диеты и ограничения, просто питайтесь сбалансировано, соблюдая норму калорий для вашей цели и выбирая любимые продукты и будет вам счастье)😉

    I'll tell you a little secret: you can gain weight from chicken breast and buckwheat if you will excess your calories during the day.
    You don't have to cut the products if you like them unless you have an allergic reaction.
    And I'm not talking right now about different sauces, simple carbs ( desserts) or trans fats, which everyone knows they should exclude from your daily nutrition. I'm talking about whole foods and grains which are full of vitamins and nutrients.
    The way you look and feel completely depends on the fuel (food) you put in your body. Only you choose if you want to feel energized and productive or be tired and feel heavy.
    You don't have to create a new diets, just eat simple and balanced and keep your chosen calories intake and happiness will come 😉

  • Que tal uma torta levinha de limão para o feriadão? Essa é super equilibrada no açúcar e minha favorita!
    No processador triture: 🍋1 pacote de biscoito maisena (pode ser tb aquele piraquê maltado, da vaquina, mas acho muito doce)
    🍋 misture 90g de manteiga sem sal derretida
    A textura tem que ficar de uma areia de praia grossa, se precisar coloque um pouco mais de manteiga.
    Arrume apertando bem na forma essa “areia”, usei uma forma de fundo removível de 15cm e sobrou para 2 copinhos de teste 😋 leve para o congelador.
    Em seguida num bow bata:
    🍋300g de cream cheese
    🍋 1/2 lata de leite condensado 🍋 raspas e suco de 1 limão taiti e 1 limão siciliano (aqui vai muito de gosto, eu prefiro mais puxado no limão, vá experimentando. E dá certo com só 1 tipo de limão tb)
    Agora é só colocar o recheio na base ja congelada.
    Se não quiser colocar o merengue também fica bom, mas quis finalizar com um merengue suiço.
    Para esse usei 2 claras, 1/3xic de açucar, levei ao banho maria até o açúcar derreter (mexendo com um batedor de arames) e em seguida bati na batedeira velocidade media e aumente no final. Se não tiver maçarico dá pra dourar no grill do forno (tem que ser bem rapidinho já que é uma torta não assada). Prontinho! Sirva e seja feliz! ☺️🍋 #Repost @moaragomes

    Par ailleurs, une bonne soupe aux choux 🥬 est toujours la bienvenue par temps froid. Ça réchauffe et pas que.... Grâce à ces #vitamines , il traite la fatigue et permet de rester en forme tout l’hiver. Il facilite le transit intestinal car il est riche en #fibres & #mineraux .
    Je sais qu’il n’est pas aimé de tous mais mélangé avec du lard, des oignons et des carottes 🥕
    Ça sera ton meilleur ami 💚
