  • How many of us really know our body well? Most or all of us have gone through some form of muscular pain or discomfort and it can be frustrating having to deal with it. Frustrating because we feel helpless about our own body.

  • Falling forward in your squat?

    Dorsiflexion is key to dropping it low; sometimes limitations take some sleuthing to uncover because it can present as a bunch of other things if you aren't looking for it 🕵🏻‍♀️
    .
    Ankle mobility issues may present as:
    .
    🔹Excessive foot pronation
    🔹Knee Collapse
    🔹Excessive Forward Lean
    🔹Falling Back
    🔹Hip Shift
    .
    This one can fake people out because your body will do everything to make up that limited range including: 👉🏻allowing your knee to dive in so your foot collapses and suddenly you've just bypassed needing to have any dorsiflexion because you body just figured out how to get some extra motion. .
    👉🏻Shifting also helps, can't get your ankle to bend? Simple- don't use that side. Duh.🤦🏻‍♀️

    Obviously this sets us up for all sorts of issues none of which are actually helping you get any benefits out of the squat exercise ...so working on that ROM is helpful.

    🎥 To year: kneeling with testing side about 4 inches (or a fists) distance away- lunge knee forward over lateral toes- can you make it? If so you’re probably okay- if you lift heel, dive knee inward or simply can’t make it, below might help.
    .
    🎥Things to focus on for happy ankles; LIMBER CALVES (gastroc- knee straight, soleus, knee bent). GLIDING JOINTS (band around talus, lunge forward, knee out over lateral toes). ACTIVE MOTION (point toes towards head as far as you can, hold it, back off, repeat); CARs (stabilize tib, SLOWLY bring ankle through all ranges of motion)

    Want a great workout finisher? Try adding battle ropes into the mix

    This is a great high intensity exercise BUT it is very easy to get into a poor postural pattern as fatigue sets in

    What does a bad postural pattern look like with this exercise? Your shoulders being hiked up to your ears would be the main one lol. Other cues include keeping your chin tucked with your deep neck flexors engaged, and your diaphragm over your pelvic floor

    This is a great way to test your fatigue threshold, and thereby increase your capacity to maintain proper joint centration!

  • When we say quiting is not acceptable we don’t mean short term, like in a workout but we mean it’s not acceptable to give up on your own process aaannddd its not ok to quit on yourself mentally either!
    .

    We don’t expect for things to happen over night, and if it did it wont last very long but we embrace the "suck" when it arrives and we give our best every session... every meal prep one day at a time. 💪
    .

    It is absolutely worth it..YOU are worth the effort. YOU deserve it🙌
    .
