If you've spent much time on my page, then you know I talk a lot about being consistent. I thought I should provide a nice little visual about WHY having the "consistent mindset" usually beats out the "perfection mindset".
Have you ever been there before? Practically bursting with motivation, you tear into some new diet/workout strategy, trying to perfectly nail every aspect of it.
You see some great results initially, but this thing called being human gets in the way at some point and you meet failure.
Discouragement follows. You get down on yourself, and because you had a restrictive, perfection-based approach then you gradually lose the motivation needed to maintain that. With no new habits set in place, you burn out and end up where you started. Except more discouraged this time.
I think a lot of us can relate to that in some way or another...I know I can. Major perfectionist over here. If so, maybe it's time to try the alternative.
Start off making manageable changes that can stick. Cut out most liquid calories. Get to the gym two or three times a week. Sleep for an extra hour every night...Realize that the key to the whole process is building new habits that will last.
Failure will still come, but when you have the end game and long term in mind, your perspective is totally different. You don't get discouraged and can just bounce right back up. You are patient, and your overall trajectory is still going upwards. Inevitably, you will end up with a better, more flourishing lifestyle this way because you refused to give up.

- Las Virgenes Canyon
- This morning after teaching my spin classes @digcycle and @spnpilates, I felt I needed some trail therapy. Badly. I didn't run. I hiked and climbed slowly and took it all in so that I can release sadness. Although the Santa Monica Mountains Ranger sign said closed, I snuck in...I needed to go see a favorite tree that did not burn. I sat with my tree normally full of birds, but not one was there, so I cried to release knowing 89%+ of the mountain range I run and love so deeply has been burned. It will take 8-10 years for regrowth. I'll be here to see it though. As silly as it may sound to some reading this - I sat, cried, sang and played out loud a favorite song and verse of mine.....
What was left when that fire was gone?
I thought it felt right but that right was wrong. All caught up in the eye of the storm, and trying to figure out what it's like moving on. And I don't even know what kind of things I've said. My mouth kept moving and my mind went dead. So, picking up the pieces, now where to begin? The hardest part of ending is starting again! All I wanna do is trade this life for something new. Holding on to what I haven't got. This is not the end. This is not the beginning. Just a voice like a riot rocking every revision, but you listen to the tone and the violent rhythm. - VACACIONES Y ENTRENAMIENTO!
Cuando quiero, donde quiero. Por gusto, placer y bienestar. También es saludable tomarte días de descanso.
El entrenamiento es mi cable a tierra, pero en los días de descanso suele ser complicado tener la voluntad de hacerlo.
Lo mejor es no obligarse, entreno porque me hace bien, entreno cuando tengo ganas, entreno porque también lo disfruto, sino simplemente descanso y disfruto de otras cosas que no hago siempre.
Si en tus vacaciones no tenes un gimnasio disponible y queres seguir en movimiento, hay cientos de entrenamientos q puedes hacer.
Lleva tu trx, ligas, o simplemente ejercicios funcionales con tu propio peso.
